Played this game online for the first time today. Nothing but veteran players and a couple noobies like myself left. Got owned.

There was so much hype about this game when it first came out and so much positive things said about it during its run. The single player to me was at best... decent, and the online is nothing more than a "crouch sprayer" (minus the crouching). When I'm lining up my shots, shooting first, firing in concentrated bursts or single shot while crouched and still getting constantly killed by the guys running around like chickens with their heads cut off spraying headshots then there is a hell of a flaw in the gameplay. Heck, an entire map of assault & defend was basically: "spray down hallway and not let other team get briefcase". Yep, awesome game devs.

It raises the question...was this game seriously that good when it first came out?

What did you expect hopping in all of 4 years late? Of course anyone left would be really good! It's the same reason you don't go play Capcom v SNK in the arcade when it's your first time.
I never personally tried or want to try the multiplayer. The story was what sold me. And frustrates me. There are some levels to this day I still grit my teeth on because the cards are stacked against you when you have to sit there and play "defend target x" while half of Vega's population come pouring in with automatic rifles. Who, I might add, shoot a lot better than me at times.

I knew that coming in. Heck, on some games I used to be that veteran player that still played that game 5+ years later. Spraying bullets all over the place and getting random headshots isn't my idea of good. To me games where the guns are inaccurate leading to the game being dubbed a "crouch sprayer" (because you have to crouch just have a chance to kill someone) should be rid of because they take away any fun or skill involved in it and like I said before is flawed gameplay.

And for your information when I was little I used to crush people in capcom vs. snk when I first started. So bleh! *sticks tongue out*

Yeah I hated those defend parts as well (damn you theater!!!). The smoke grenades make them way easier plus sometimes there's glitches that lets you skip past those parts (I found one by accident).
oh GOD. the Theater. Don't remind me of that. "Let me download the info off the computer. We've got incoming!!"

I'm sitting here thinking how slow this man is when it comes to downloading info. Either that or he's using a fucking abacus.
