First thing I did was get online because there's no point in running the single player campaign alone when you have co-op.First thing I notice is that xfire lags this game up to the point where you have to shut it down because you cant move. I went from 40-60 FPS to 6-13 FPS with xfire.

Campaign is nice and provides a decent challenge. Only thing thats really hard about it is that the hit detection is sketchy at times (either that or the AI doesn't react to getting hit at first) and that its unforgiving with the one shot kills the AI gives out. Not to mention the AI are like animals, hiding in dark corners and scattering when you come. One time the guy was right in front of me and I didn't notice because I had my flash light off. The people online have been playing for awhile and know the ins and outs, so we flew through missions in minutes. Only complaint I have is that there's ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS something you missed that you have to get even after it says "You have completed the mission!" or it won't end. Lucky for us the experienced players usually told us exactly where everything we missed was while they were dead (even though I think they were using some sort of mod because I don't see anything that gives you that information unless there's a ghost camera).

I was surprised to see that CO-OP wasn't just the only option in online play, but it was also the LEAST popular option. Swat 4 has a couple of Swat vs. Suspect games like escort, or straight team deathmatch. There's also 'barricade' which I haven't played yet, but I assume its a breach sort of game where the Swat has to get inside some makeshift fortress protected by suspects. I decided to call it quits after awhile because I was constantly getting killed by "silent" weapons like the AK-47 and I found the shotguns to be totally ineffective even at point blank range. Even in the co-op campaign I watched some NPC shoot a obviously unsuppressed pistol at me, but I didn't hear a thing. Lucky I was behind cover. I'm blaming the sound glitches on a corrupt file in installation so hopefully once I re-install it I'll be good to go.

Sounds like a recipe for fail. o_O

I think I'll avoid this title.
raelly? all the problems sound like lag (the hit detection issues) or hardware/installation problems (the sounds).

altough yeah the swat games have always had rather useless shotguns
"6-13 FPS with xfire"---Wow ! Just pure painful.
The other day I found some other video streaming app for games that claimed little to no lag at all and seemed to have as good if not better support for games than Xfire has. I can't remember what it was though. They also had a community very similar to gamerDNA built around their tech. Some day I'll find it again.
is the online for swat 4 still active...
Xfire doesn't lag me in any game, at all. The only time Xfire makes my FPS drop even just a little is if I open the in-game menus, but even then it's like five or ten fps at the most.

I *love* SWAT 4. I don't have the expansion that you played, but me and my buddy play this all the time. <3
He should watch TheSpoonyOne's videos of Swat 4, it's a pretty cool game.

If anyone is looking for some good co-op matches online, me and my buddy can both run dedicated servers so it'll be private. We also use ventrilo, so it's both convenient and realistic. Hit me up on Xfire if you're interested.
Its actually an alright game, just the some common bugs a bit here and there. Its one of those few games where you actually feel like the person you're playing and actually use tactical thinking.
I tried it without going online too and had the same problems with NPCs not reacting to getting shot and "silent" weapons.
Yeah online is still up.

id be up for this if it was on steam... i hate buying disks CD keys patches ect.....
@TheTot I do plan to get Swat 4 and it's expansions at some point, I'll keep that in mind.
