First thing I did was get online because there's no point in running the single player campaign alone when you have co-op.First thing I notice is that xfire lags this game up to the point where you have to shut it down because you cant move. I went from 40-60 FPS to 6-13 FPS with xfire.
Campaign is nice and provides a decent challenge. Only thing thats really hard about it is that the hit detection is sketchy at times (either that or the AI doesn't react to getting hit at first) and that its unforgiving with the one shot kills the AI gives out. Not to mention the AI are like animals, hiding in dark corners and scattering when you come. One time the guy was right in front of me and I didn't notice because I had my flash light off. The people online have been playing for awhile and know the ins and outs, so we flew through missions in minutes. Only complaint I have is that there's ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS something you missed that you have to get even after it says "You have completed the mission!" or it won't end. Lucky for us the experienced players usually told us exactly where everything we missed was while they were dead (even though I think they were using some sort of mod because I don't see anything that gives you that information unless there's a ghost camera).
I was surprised to see that CO-OP wasn't just the only option in online play, but it was also the LEAST popular option. Swat 4 has a couple of Swat vs. Suspect games like escort, or straight team deathmatch. There's also 'barricade' which I haven't played yet, but I assume its a breach sort of game where the Swat has to get inside some makeshift fortress protected by suspects. I decided to call it quits after awhile because I was constantly getting killed by "silent" weapons like the AK-47 and I found the shotguns to be totally ineffective even at point blank range. Even in the co-op campaign I watched some NPC shoot a obviously unsuppressed pistol at me, but I didn't hear a thing. Lucky I was behind cover. I'm blaming the sound glitches on a corrupt file in installation so hopefully once I re-install it I'll be good to go.
